Hello everyone! I am Rui and I am a game and app developer as well as an aspiring writer/author located in Austria. I am currently working as a Game Programmer, Team Lead and Studio Co-Director at the international Indie Game Studio Nerd Monkeys, have a Bachelor and Master of Science (BSc, MSc) in Interactive Media, with a specialisation in Game Development.
My motivation for the field of programming stems mainly from me being an avid gamer. Videogames have always fascinated me, and since I am of a very curious nature and love discovering what is beyond a functioning program or even just gadget, I have fallen into the world of programming. My heart beats for games, so my main focus lies on the development of games, but during my studies I have also found an affection for creating applications and working with databases.
I want to create things that move people, that let them rethink their believes and opinions, that let them have fun. I want to make an impact on the world or even just single people. I love doing that by approaching things differently, by giving meaning to things where other people maybe wouldn't have found any. I love looking at things abstractly, using as little words or images as possible but giving the people an impetus like this, just by little things.
I am also a writer because of this. I love playing with (also often heavy) topics and challenging them and everyone that experiences them with me. I especially love experimenting with colours.
